Louisiana Hot Legs
Louisiana Hot Legs
Have you ever had a craving for some hot wings with just a little more meat on the bones? Well these Louisiana Hot Legs will cure that craving. I was looking for a buffalo chicken style recipe that I could really call dinner when I decided to opt for some chicken legs instead of the wings. These tasty legs are also baked, not deep fried.
Hot Legs!
We just call them Hot Legs at our house but since I had used a Louisiana Wing Sauce I added that to the title. Try this recipe with Frank’s or Durkee Hot Sauces, they make wonderful Hot Legs too!
These spicy chicken legs go great with rice or mashed potatoes. I had made some mashed potatoes the night before and we had some left over so I made some Mashed Potato Pancakes to go along with these. They were so good!
To make the legs, I start by shaking on some Old Bay seasoning then I sift on some flour and spritz with spray oil.
Bake them a 425 degree oven for about 40 minutes until they are well done and crispy. I turn them when they are half done to get them crispy all the way around.
While these beautiful legs were baking I fried up the potato pancakes and started melting the butter for the amazing leg sauce! It's ridiculously simple. In a sauce pan, melt and stir together equal parts of your wing sauce of choice and butter. That's it!
These hot legs are tasty enough with all the butter and hot sauce that I really don't see the need to fry them like they do in most restaurants. If you like though, you can fry them in a deep fryer at 350 degrees for 12 minutes, drain on paper towels and then continue on with this recipe.
I melted 6 tablespoons of butter in my saute pan until it was nice and foamy then added 6 tablespoons of Louisiana Wing Sauce. I stirred them together and then dipped and rolled each chicken leg in the sauce until well coated.
Yum!
After all of your hot legs have taken the dip, plate them up with a garnish of green onions and dig in!
Make sure you have plenty of napkins! These could be a meaty addition to your next game day.
I hope you enjoy this recipe, it's so simple and really delivers on flavor just like Buffalo Hot Wings! Don't hesitate to serve them with a side of Blue Cheese or Ranch Dip and some celery sticks.
Cheers!

Ingredients
1 large package of chicken legs
6 tablespoons of butter
6 tablespoons Louisiana Wing Sauce, Frank's Hot Sauce or Durkee Hot Sauce
1/4 cup flour
2 tablespoons Old Bay Seasoning
Spray oil
Method
For the Legs
Shake on the Old Bay seasoning, then sift on some flour and spritz the legs with spray oil. These go into a 425 degree oven for about 40 minutes until they are well done and crispy. I turn them when they are half done to get them crispy all the way around. Alternatively, you can sprinkle them with seasoning and flour and fry them in a deep fryer at 350 degrees for 12 minutes then drain them on paper towels.
For the Sauce
In a sauce pan, melt the butter until foamy and then stir in the hot sauce.
Dip and roll the legs in the sauce until completely covered and serve with a garnish of green onions.
